I can't help you ther. I've never used images of the apple site. I have the OS cd's and disks.

I've downloaded a 7.5.3 disk tools image from here: ftp://ftp.umax.com/supermac/apple_files/disk_tools1.sea.hqx It's got Disk First Aid, Disk Setup, and a System Folder, but I can't seem to boot from it. Should I be able to? Also, If I grab the 7.5.3 System images from Apple's site, is there a way I can install to this new HD without having to boot into something?
