I bought a Mac IIfx on eBay (in 1996 AFAIR) from a guy in W Virginia, who'd purchased it at a government auction. Apparently the Mac had been a DOD contractor's personal system: on the 80MB SCSI hard drive there were TONS of files - mostly memos & presentations, flow charts, etc. - describing various weapons projects. Names, dates, addresses. Network info (servers, logins, etc).
I kid you not. I deleted the files of course; all Greek to me, regardless. (And - eventually - gave the system to my sister.) Just an interesting anecdote. --- brandon davis --- -- sacramento, ca -- -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
