Just so we're clear .. I agree, though I consider the Color Classic an
improvement: With the right logic board it is more powerful than the SE/30
(even with accelerators) and are easy to come by and swap. Though you might
not be able to live with its appearance :-) Unfortunately there is no such
upgrade for a Classic II. Nice house analogy BTW. LOL! And yes aesthetics
has always been an issue for me -- which extends to the GUI as well. Windows
has never gotten the interface right and that's half the functionality as
far as I'm concerned.

And this comment sounds like a dig, though I'm not upset. But, I would never
stress form over function. If I had a large family, or was planning one, I
would of course buy the house on the big lot. But you can sure bet I would
fix it up. Others wouldn't. It is a matter of taste. Some people really like
the SE's design. I'm not so sure Steve Jobs sees it the same way as his
history is littered with form over function compromises and he currently
holds the keys to the house. Fortunately he also wants his products to be
the best and that means technologically as well. But I really wonder if
Apple's history would be the same if Jobs hadn't insisted on putting the
Apple II in an expensive industrially designed plastic case and just stuck
'em in cheap metal cabinets like PC makers -- not to mention Apple's
comeback in recent years. As long as you like the way the SE/30 looks and
you are fully using all of the capabilities it has to offer, then there is
no reason for you to use a lesser computer. If the reverse were true, then
I'd suggest you choose one of the other beautifully styled compacts.
