Peter, Peter, Peter! First, Windows has always had a jerky pointer. They
have never fixed it. It sucked then and it sucks now. Frankly, I don't care
what else they did right, if moving the pointer bothers me, how can I be
expected to be productive with the rest of it. I have never worked on a
computer that was as smooth as a Mac. I'm not even going to get into how
counterintuitive Windows is: I mean, choosing "start" to shut down says it
all right there. If you look at it, Windows was the exact opposite of the
Mac, right down to the white w/black outlined pointer which is easily lost
on a text document, no doubt initially to avoid lawsuits. Once again, with
Windows, you had to learn all kinds of technical things in order to use it
-- it was just a GUI version of DOS. I mean what the hell is a DLL? I've
been using PCs right along with Macs since 1989 and I still don't know, but
it seems necessary that I do in order to work the thing properly! I have
always said if you never used a computer before, it really didn't matter
which one you used since there was a learning curve on both and they both do
essentially the same thing, but the interface was soooo much easier to use
on a Mac, on an intuitive level and far more satisfying on implementation.
Windows began life as a cheap knock-off of the Mac and it always will be
until Bill Gates achieves his take over of Apple sometime in the near future
after Apple moves to the Intel platform.
