Somebody just emailed me with the following workaround. I don't have time to test right now but maybe people could try it out and report back.
----- I had this same bug with gnome3 on fedora 15. This is not a compiz bug but a XRender bug (I think, I have no idea to be honest) Got some help in #qt channel on freenode. the workaround is to set the QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM variable before starting anki. export QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=raster anki I don't know why it works.
