Quoting Hideki Kato <[email protected]>:
A question: how many handicap stones do you think leads 50% winrate with dynamic komi? Nine stones is clearly enough to adjust 10 times of playouts. If double the playout correstponds to one stone handicap, log2(10) = 3.3 stones should be but log3(100) = 4.2 or more stones may be more realistic.
Yes, that could be close to the truth. Given some more time I could repeat the experiment for decreasing number of handicap stones and see where the break point is.
But I do think it is more complicated. There is probably a ceiling effect caused by the playing strength of Black. Valkyria is strong enough to make H9 hard to beat for most opponents. If the playing strength is increased by having more playouts at some point Black will be unbeatable with or without dynamic komi. The nature of the games might be different so in my current experiment with 10k vs 100k maybe the effect will only show in the length of the game. taht is how fast black forces white to resign.
