You can read IBM comments on the BIOS revisions, generally when you
upgrade BIOS there is usually a maximum RAM update.  Though you can
possibly do either 512 or 1GB I do not personally think you would
notice a difference.  You will pump your computer with max memory but
your processor or HDD might still be lacking.

any of the above 256,512,or 1GB is MORE then enough to run basic
Windows XP functions.  Windows XP will run on 64MB of memory and is
recommended to use with 128MB+ out of the box in 2002.
