I notice the memory leaks but my bookmarks work OK.
I have firefox autoupdate turned off so it hasn't been updated in ages.
Maybe Firefox put out a bad update...

What has happened to Mozilla Firefox? I run it on several machines

(running the latest version with no add-ons) the browser freezes when I
click on bookmarks. It takes a good part of a minute for the bookmarks
to present themselves. This has been happening for weeks if not
months. I cannot be the only one this happens to. Yet I have not seen
this mentioned on this list. I KNOW you guys are not using Internet
Explorer, right?
It hasn't happened to me. BUT...
I have heard and seen memory leaks in Firefox. They don't always happen,
but many people have recorded it. Once a certain amount of memory is
used,
swapping and such can make a computer "freeze".
Also, it could be an issue with your "bookmarks.html" file. Maybe it is
huge, or maybe there is a disk problem where it has to retry to read
in the
file. The disk problem is less likely when happening on several
machines.
Do you have the Firefox Preferences set (I have it under the Security
tab in
Linux) to "tell me if the site I'm visiting is a suspected forgery"? I
believe that when you go to the Bookmarks it may be loading the list of
forged sites onto your computer - that could cause performance problems.
Also, if you have a lot of RSS feeds in your Bookmarks, it may be taking
time loading them.
