Marcio I think you have me pegged wrong. I lived in Canada and my first two children were born there. My first child died of congenital heart problems but got extremely good care and treatment, he died because of the congenital problems, not care.

After he died the doctor ordered, and my wife and I both received a complete cardiac work up. When my wife finally got pregnant again (A whole story of its own) she was a high risk pregnancy and again received excellent care. My daughter was born with out a problem and without bills, and then when she was a week old (My wife stayed in he hospital for a whole week with out complaint by insurance carrier) she was screened and diagnosed as free from any heart defects after many tests. Again never a bill was seen.

I think the Canadian system is not all that bad. At present my church pays over 12,000 a year for my health benefits (And I do not have a Cadillac plan, my deductibles are up there.) In Canada the premiums are 1/4 of this or less. My church cannot do some activities because my health plan costs so much.

What I said is reinforced by what he said. The Canadian system uses rationing to balance things out. We do not like rationing and we will fight rationing at every turn. My wife's grandmother died of an aortic aneurysm. Diagnosed, but not treated, she was over 80.

Take a look at the US Emergency rooms. I have lost patients in America who needed to be or to remain hospitalized
        and this was denied.

My grandmother died due to a failed hip operation, her third in two months and she was over 90! OK which one died where????

Yes... do you know how many patients -uninsured- die in the US for lack of proper care? Try a hip operation in an American who falls in between health insurance and medicaid...

You guessed it, and the reason my grandmother had three operations? My uncle signed an agreement to pay for any extra treatment over and above medicare!!!!!
        I understand, sorry.

There has to be a balance somewhere in the whole argument we have just not found it yet.

True, but in average, for most citizens, as a rule, the Canadian, French, British systems offer better care for the population than the US. Go and ask the British to change their system. Not even Margaret Tatcher was able to do it. As the French or the Canadians, for that matter if they want to have the US system... Doesn´t this mean anything?

Here's a little different take on the Canadian Health Care System by someone who lived in Canada for years...worth reading.

Socializing the health care industry would be biggest mistake this country has ever made. Post Office vs Fed Ex. Enough said.

Follow the link below to read the truth about the socialized Canadian Health Care System.
