Richard,

If your wife wants an iPod, you need a handle on her requirements.
First, unless she has a large music collection (CDs and/or vinyl) or
wants to start buying a collection, she won't need one with huge
capacity; 4-8 GB should be fine.

That storage capacity can be satisfied by a nano or the new touch.
Next, you need to understand her gadget lust. Does she want the coolest
flashiest (iPod Touch) in her group? Or is she just looking to carry
some tunes (nano)?

Finally, if she plans to use it for jogging, exercise or other active
duty stuff, she should be happiest with a nano.

Any music she can get into her computer (iTunes software is free) from
CDs, vinyl or download (buy from the iTunes store), she can get into her
iPod. So, you may want to include a gift certificate for some music.

Thank you,

I have just found out that my wife would like (read: is expecting), an
iPod for Christmas. I know next to nothing about them other than that
they store and play music. In looking at the Apple website, I would
think that something like the iPod Nano would suffice; something that
would handle a decent amount of songs and is able to select songs if
wanted. No video involved at this point. I just don't know what's
involved in the process of getting music into the iPod , and/or is there

a better one than others as far as ease of use and so on.

Any thoughts, reviews or recommendations will be welcome. Thanks in
advance.
