Are you managing your battery backup through your computer, or are you just plugged into it without management?

Also, you might check your power options under "Display Properties" to see if your desktop thinks it's a laptop for some reason.

Finally, you might have a utility that warns you about the watch battery on the motherboard? I've never seen one, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

My desktop computer recently began displaying a message that my battery power is weak and advises to switch to AC power. I am connected to AC power. The message comes from Windows XP, I think.

What causes the message?
I am connected to AC power thru a battery backup that comes on when AC power is interrupted. Could this be the problem?
