Well with a regular receiver you can autotune...with the dvr you record but
it doesn't change the sation, it can record it in the background. So i have
to record using both tuners up so one will actually change the output. Some
of the podcasts are the same but mostly not. I go thru saturday/sunday book
tv schedules and record anything interesting. They all don't show up on
podcasts.

Do you have more than one receiver? We have two and decided against getting a DVR. Instead we bought a Samsung upconverting DVD recorder, http://tinyurl.com/2s647c and 15 Maxell DVD-RW disks. This way we can use the receiver to autotune and the DVD recorder to record with its timer.

No, I can't record and view on the same TV, but we rarely record anything when we're at home anyway, unless it's in the middle of the night. We can always record on one TV and watch the other.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad we got the DVD recorder instead of the DVR.

Betty
