What does the HD dvr run?

It's not HD. It records in standard def, and upconverts to 1080i. Picture on 37" LCD and 42" plasma TVs is quite good. I like being able to re-use the DVD-RW disks. You can get HD for a lot more, but for recordings that we intend watch but not always save, this works well. The Samsung DVD-R135 was one of the few DVD recorders available when we wanted to buy, and at the right price; as long as you use quality disks [Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, etc.] the results are excellent.

What do you mean "run"? It records, then plays, like a DVR, but with multiple disks. The tuner is in the satellite box.
