Thanks for this and the other suggestions.  Now that you mention profiles,
seems like problems started or got worse when I created another profile some
months ago, but can't remember if I did this to try and address the problems
I was already starting to have with FF.  Should I delete the 2 current
profiles when I create a new one?  Is there an easy way to copy everything
from one profile, particularly bookmarks, to another?
