When one of the companies (local provider of cell service also owned
by power company conglomerate) put up a new tower the town was given
their old tower and moved most of their communications antennas to it.
Nice deal for the town.

Correct, to an extent. My town (Middleburg) leases to most of the
carriers on our two water towers. We prohibit private towers inside
town limits. No one wants the eye sore of private towers here.
