I'm with you, Rich. It's not a matter of either bandwidth or storage. It's a
matter of wading through hundreds of quoted lines, which are now next to
unreadable due to multiple wrappings and layers of >>>>. How much easier to
just have a line or two at the top.

Truth be told, I've never been convinced of the need for quoting at all.  I
do it only because it seems to be expected. Letter writers seemed to be able
to muddle through without it for millenia.
