> No eSnipe still doesn't make any sense to me.
I think what you're missing is this: snipers would useless if everyone bid their maximum, but a lot of people don't. They just enter a bid that's a little higher than the current bid and come back later if they're outbid. Suppose I've decided that I will pay up to $100 for a Hillary for President pin. Harvey wants it too. He's willing to pay up to $90. He never puts in his maximum bid. The current bid is his at $50. Your way: I put in my maximum bid. The price keeps going up as Harvey drops by and outbids me, and my autobid outbids him. In the end I win, but I pay $91 or whatever. The sniper way: I don't put in my maximum bid. Instead, I tell my sniper that I'm willing to pay up to $100. For now, the clock just ticks. Nothing happens. Harvey is fat & happy because he thinks he's getting his heirloom for fifty bucks. But 10 seconds before the close, my sniper jumps in and bids $51. I still win, but I saved $40 because Harvey didn't have time to outbid me. ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
