What an interesting response. Sometimes I forget I'm living with a
couple generations that have grown up online, and have very probably
never even been to a Real Life auction. They think the Ebay way is the
way auctions work.

If you've actually been to some rl auctions, and they've all had
different rules, can you tell us if you've ever been to one where the
auctioneer used a timer and whoever placed the last bid before the
bell rang won the item? Even if other people were bidding? I've just
never heard of any such nonsense until Ebay came along and seemed to
base their software around an absolute timer.
