Is the degree of pollution produced in the manufacture of a solar
panel significant when you consider the amount of power said panel
could potentially produce over its lifetime, when compared
to the amount of pollution produced by a conventional coal or
oil-fired plant producing the equivalent amount of power over the same
period?

If you are suggesting Death Valley be paved over with solar panels, I
am certain that would do more environmental damage than 1000 nuclear
power plants could ever hope to achieve. However I guess that's not
what you meant ;)

today. Project current trends into the future, and I suspect you'll
see an entirely different picture emerge. Remember, I said "in ten years".
