The key word here, I think, is "could". MS offers plenty of free stuff that doesn't dominate the PC world (see: Outlook Express, Windows Backup, Windows Defender, compressed folders, ...). There's no reason to think that this
will, either.

I'll not disagree with your points except to say that IE did, and likely still does pretty much dominate the Windows world as far as browsers are concerned. I personally have no problems with any free applications, even if they are not the best for the job at hand.
