Right, I'm suggesting that it might be "worth the trouble".  I've found that
(for me, anyway) this is the quickest way to get to programs that I use
frequently, but not frequently enough to put into quick launch. Did not like
putting stuff in desktop folders--they get covered too much.

YMMV, of course.
