I just got a Mac mini to get a computer neophyte up and running for the very first time. It will be just fine for him and his needs as a newbie, and will actually serve him well later on as he progresses, in my opinion. He already had a monitor and someone gave him a Windows keyboard which works with the mini, although he did decide to go out and buy a $16.00 Mac keyboard anyway. He got a nice Canon printer from Apple as part of the $400.00 deal on the mini, so price wise, there was nothing at all to complain about.
