Ok here's an actual computer question. What a change. But don't Macs need less ram do to their swapping or something? Wasn't it that Macs worked twice as fast with half the ram? I'm really out dated here but remembering Photoshop tests.

Apple does make bargain systems, it's just you get bargain size with it. A gig of ram? That's it? For my mom or even my wife fine, I've got six gigs
in my main system, four in the other two I have here.

I'm almost hoping the pc at my moms will die so I can get her a mac, but no
luck...built a little too well I suppose :)

BTW, if my mothers computer ever gives up the ghost, I'll move her to a
mac
mini...she has the money and doesn't need any more power then that.

I just got a Mac mini to get a computer neophyte up and running for
the very first time. It will be just fine for him and his needs as a
newbie, and will actually serve him well later on as he progresses, in
my opinion. He already had a monitor and someone gave him a Windows
keyboard which works with the mini, although he did decide to go out
and buy a $16.00 Mac keyboard anyway. He got a nice Canon printer
from Apple as part of the $400.00 deal on the mini, so price wise,
there was nothing at all to complain about.
