Actually, in the case of the bar oaths and the California employment oath, the fact that one pledges to defend both the national and state constitution would, I imagine, include a pledge to observe (and defend) the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution -- which would seem to settle the delicate problem of supporting Texas or Calif even when that state's interests are antithetical to the interests of the nation.
