Hi Madeleine we use filmoplast p90 which is white. In some cases I thought that, in the case of exposure, we could paint the tape black with an appropriate paint, but we still have not had that need. all the best

These are made with two glass plates adhered around the edges with gummed paper tape in a variety of colours, but mainly black. The paper is failing and I have been asked to replace it as it is going on exhibition. I am struggling to find any black conservation grade gummed paper tape, and none in the size that I need. I have come across two options. One is "Matt Decoration Tape" made by Industrial Tapes UK. It says it conservation grade but I don't even know if this would be appropriate? The second tape that I have found is not conservation grade, but instead used for photography. It is a matt black paper based tape with no residue and used on glass and negatives. Any advice? (I would use Heritage Tapes Black Tyvek tape 13mm but it is no longer in stock anywhere) Best Madeleine Reply to Sender : https://community.culturalheritage.org/eGroups/PostReply/?GroupId=481&SenderKey=95b8f50f-2586-4817-9031-dc165ea0b0a9&MID=9262&MDATE=756%253e465477&UserKey=d16eaa87-0f69-494b-9f2f-303dbc1222e1&sKey=fab9aa4f27a04c5d876e Reply to Discussion : https://community.culturalheritage.org/eGroups/PostReply/?GroupId=481&MID=9262&MDATE=756%253e465477&UserKey=d16eaa87-0f69-494b-9f2f-303dbc1222e1&sKey=fab9aa4f27a04c5d876e You are subscribed to "Global Conservation Forum (ConsDistList)" as [email protected].
