I described the problem in the OPNsense forum and asked for help. Here's the
reply (originally in German, I translated as good as I'm able to):
Status 400 is a syntax error. Probably the client does something what the proxy
does not understand. In this case, a packet record of the HTTP connection is
required to understand the problem (in the worst case, your client does
something and takes the port 80, but does not abide by the HTTP specification
and the proxy notices it and blocks the connection).
I will not investigate further.
