I have tried the following drivers to see if the cd-rom could be found but nothing worked. I used
MAC53c94 driver and got a kernel Panic and had to reboot.
Mace driver found nothing
Mesh driver found nothing
I tried a few others but to no avail. Also I didn't see one for the 53c96.

I appreciate the help everyone has given me so far, hopefully we can fix this problem.

It should be a 53c94 (or 96, but only one of them is used in PowerMacs
AFAIK, see kernel config). Some macs of the 7/8/9xxx series use MESH for
internal fast SCSI and 53c94 for external SCSI.
