Just tried atyfb and atyfb-2.2 on the ISO I burned, and its working here.
The message you are seeing in the 2.2 boot is referring to /dev/ram3, the
ramdisk that is to be used to load the stage1 installer.

I see on your web page that you've already verified the md5sum, but it is
possible that something happened during the burn process and the CD is not
a perfect image.  I know there have been occasions where burning the image
at a slower speed than max of your hardware seems to help.  Based on the
error messages you're seeing it looks like for kernel-2.4, that yaboot is
not finding the kernel at all, and for 2.2, it's loading, but possibly
corrupted.
