iMAC REV A (The first model - it's a p.o.s.) G3 223 196MB RAM
Cooker is 8.2.
Checking Internet Connections to start at boot. It freezes up here. The first time it froze and then i rebooted and after like 10 minutes it gave me al that hex and stuff. I'm trying to get it back to doing that but after my last reboot it had to "fix" a bunch of file system problems that it found and then it just hung at "Checking Internet Connections to start at boot."I don't expect you to type in the whole error message, but some bit that might tell me what module is attempting to be loaded or something would be good.
How? I type in "linux single" or the word "prompt"You might try booting in single user mode and see if at least the kernel itself is stable on that machine (haven't seen any reports of other behavior on modern machines, some of the old ones are troublesome)
If I have to hit to reset button to reboot - am I really screwing this box up badly? I don't want to corrupt it by doing things the wrong way. I've not even had a chance to run a single application on it.
By the way - I told the connection to find it on DHCP. I'm in a school lab and we get our IP address thrown to us. But the district tells us to set up the DNS as 170.235.1.10 & 170.235.1.20. That;s also what i did in the set up under DNS. Does that help you to help me any?
Right now it just stopped at Checking Internet Connections to start at boot. It's not doing anything. I hit return a couple of times and it didn't do anything.
Do I need to sacrifice a live herring to a penguin or something to get this to work?
