> kernel-benh-2.4.20-3mdk.ppc.rpm Works well on my Nov 02 PowerBook G4. In fact, I don't see any difference compared to benh-2.4.20-2mdk. I still have the error messages at startup about "IP Virtual Server" not being available as a module or built into the kernel.
Moreover (I don't know if that's due to the new kernel or the new XFree86), I do now get 24-bit video with the radeon driver (Radeon Mobility 9000 here). According to the XF86 log, it's even 2D-accelerated. If I try 32 bit, I just get a black screen that doesn't change even if I switch to other consoles or sleep and wake up again. The system remains functional however, and I can restart it by typing blindly. After waking up from sleep, the X display is weird: somehow scaled up, but as individual pixels in wrong colors on a black background, except for the mouse cursor, which appears normal (hard to describe, but I guess it doesn't matter anyway). Switching to a text console and back returns it to normal operation. When I add 'Load "dri"' to the module section of XF86Config, I get the following lines in the XFree86 log: (EE) RADEON(0): [dri] RADEONDRIScreenInit failed because of a version mismatch. [dri] radeon.o kernel module version is 1.1.1 but version 1.5.0 or newer is needed. [dri] Disabling DRI. -Christian -- +++ GMX - Mail, Messaging & more http://www.gmx.net +++ NEU: Mit GMX ins Internet. Rund um die Uhr fr 1 ct/ Min. surfen!
