Well Ron, just think of it like this, If they make a direct link to the file
then what is the use of having Mirror sites to reduce the load on the main
server, a direct link efectivly bypasses the whole mirror system, So they make
a link to the Mirrors page and with a few clicks you find one that does have
the file you want. They are not in control of how often the Mirror sites
update so they have a link at the top of the Mirrors list to the main mirror
and a secondary mirror.

I setup fmirror to mirror from the a mirror that I have found to be quite
uptodate and you will probably have the file before you even look at the
e-mail.

I have fmirror check for new files on the contrib directory every 30 minutes.

I have been using
ftp://sunsite.uio.no/pub/unix/Linux/Mandrake-devel/contrib/
then the file I want is downloaded before I even need it. Only once in the last
several months was a file not mirrored correctly - and it had been pulled for a
fix.
