BTW could this be related to the UDMA 66 stuff and thus fixed by the
hydrogen2-inst.iso on tucows? I installed from hydrogen-inst.iso from tucows.

A couple of pieces of information that might be pertinent:

During the text screen (before it launches to full graphical, but after the
inital picture of the penguin with the (Continue) or (Help)), it displays a
progress bar, chokes around 25 percent for 10-15 seconds then quickly moves
up to 75% or so then says it pops up a curses window that says it failed to
create ramdisk. I hit enter to continue and it goes on to the graphical
installer.

I know it's a bit more adventureous than most people should be when
installing a beta product, but I added that new PCI network card (NC100
made by linksys) for the first time then installed Mandrake 7.1 beta from
the hydrogen-inst.iso. To be honest I'm not even sure a linux driver it
should use.
