Of course optimisation is not necessarily worthwhile, so I think correctly packaging software which *does* take advantage of optimisations would be better. But a build-from-source tool would be good. But I don't think it shoulld be restricted to building from SRPM. It should also allow building from Mandrake CVS if yuo have the original sources ... > * A working MS-DOS emulator. > Didn't dosbox go into contrib just after release? > * RDesktop. (or am I missing something?). But ISP details need to be completed, I remember Mandrakesoft asking for this information around 8.0! > Two aspects, one which could be profitably built into Konqueror as a > protocol server (e.g. doc://name) which searches likely spots > (man-pages, info, /usr/share/doc/name-*/*, KDE handbooks etc) and > presents a short menu of likely-useful documentation for the > command/file/whatever. You mean man:, info: and locate: aren't enough? BTW, I was very impressed by the new context help (button) in the drakxtools! Here are some of mine: 1)ACL support in the mainstream file managers. How long have we had ACLs for? It's still easier to manage them from windows! 2)Split authentication stuff in DrakX into a drakxtool, but design for more complex settings (such as setting up pam_smbpass so when you change your unix password, your samba password is changed also) 3)samba3 final ;-) 4)ifstatus support for more cards 5)Thinkpad drivers in the kernel package (nplanel, is there anything more I can do?), after which I will upload tpctl .. 6)Configurable update-source in install (we don't have net access without a special interactive program, but we have an internal updates mirror) 7)GUI-tools support for writing DVDs Can't think of any more ...
