It goes for both analogue and ISDN dialup. I've had a hell of a time getting a winmodem set up, with the modem autodetected but the already existing device and modules not recognized for the very, very, very common conexant HSF modem. Well alright, maybe I should have made an rpm for the drivers, but hey, there already were alias /dev/modem lines in modules.conf. Then I again had the old pains of getting kppp to connect and actually hold the line, always the dreaded "Error 16, ppp daemon died unexpectedly". When I eventually did get it running (I think I put users in secondary group tty) the bugger still keeps dieing randomly. This happens for the winmodem and a pcmcia modem on a laptop. And I'm very reluctant to upgrade my friend's ISDN box because of the stress it would cause me. > - possibility to have configured more then one isp at a time exactly > - update isdn4k-utils right I think it would be great to get a working dialup daemon. Something along the line of SuSE's smpppd plus frontends (kinternet). Steffen once posted about a fairly similar app the name of which now escapes me. I remember though that the app provided a dialup server and frontends for KDE and GTK. Maybe we can have that in contrib and test it for the next release. And please, do something about the permissions, I'm losing hair at an alarming rate whenever I try to configure dialups. - Mark
