------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-05-08 15:10 ------- >> Most liekly you didn't read my post with the proper atention. I did, most likely you didn't even bother to answer my questions. >> Mandrake 9.1 has a bug that is still present in 9.2 Which one? #2741 has not been posted to for 9.2, so that one seems to be fixed. >> And i *don't have to install unofficial packages*. Well, most likely not enough people tested and confirmed it fixed the bug without introducing other bugs on other cards etc etc. >> Mandrake should solve the bug. Which one are we talking about? The one you originally claimed was the same has (AFAIK) been fixed in cooker. >> I am a member of Mandrake Club, just to give my contribution to mandrake. So am I and Danny is too, and we help out trying to narrow down bug reports here too, and maintain packages in the distro, build packages for MandrakeClub members etc etc ... >> I expect Mandrake addresses the clients problems with proper care. They usually do, but don't dump on others trying to help you. >> With 9.1 i spent 17 euros in a paid incident just to receive back a bunch of >> hint like if i was some linux moron. We can't help you with Mandrakeexpert. >> The bug is *not related*. >> The bug is the very same, and yes, it is still present in 9.2beta1 (please, >> read before posting). # 2471 is *not* the same bug. It may have the same behaviour, but that was on ATI Radeon cards, and has been fixed, so please don't refer to it ... >> Just for the record, if i recompile the kernel and get rid of all the >> buzzilion modules and other stuff a mere mortal doesn't need, the problem is >> solved. Does 3d work? Oh yes, maybe the mere mortals don't need it ... please test if glxgeards works when you are running this kernel. Otherwise, we're going to have to spend more time trying to track down what you compiled in etc etc. >> Can't say what exactly is the piece of kernel that causes the X crash. Most likely DRI, you either have to choose 3d hardware acceleration, or a crash on VT change, but it should be trivial to disable DRI when running the Mandrake kernel. Can you try, and see if that helps? Maybe the i8x0 cards should be blacklisted for DRI, in which case this would be an XFdrake bug ... -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: Well, it seems that unfortunately there are cross-versions bugs. As in Mandrake 9.1, in an HP Omnibook XE3 with a Intel 830M video card, X crashes the machine when logging out to terminal. It is a documented bug ( http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2741 ), it is reported several times in the web and newsgroups (example: http://groups.google.pt/groups?q=Mandrake+omnibook+xe3+9.1&hl=pt-PT&lr=&ie=UTF- 8&oe=UTF-8&selm=32ee77b6.0303280308.6fc5cb44%40posting.google.com&rnum=4 ) but no one seems to care. When of 9.1, i even spent 17 euros in a paid incident for nothing. No one solved this mistery. So, in Mandrake 9.2 it seems that me and all the folks owning this video card will have to stick with this bug, right ? Please, don't make me retun to SuSE where there is no such problem. Warm Regards, Mrio Gamito
