why would you need to call them with lvm1-toolname or lvm2-toolname,
you made such a good solution with the alternatives.

it shouldn't be allowed to be able to call lvm1 & lvm2 tools at the same
time

resynced against 2.4.22.1mdk patches are already available
(but are not yet tested , although no compile problems with all i386 kernels
:) )
