Thank you, actually i had in mind of changing the layout again, putting binaries in /sbin/lvm1 and /sbin/lvm2, since lvm2 tools check for name and cannot be invoked when called lvm2-toolname.
why would you need to call them with lvm1-toolname or lvm2-toolname, you made such a good solution with the alternatives.
1) for myself testing those (and i should know what i am doing most of the time)
2) i think it would be better to hardcode the real tool names in initscripts and mkinitrd, that risking it doing weird things due to misconfigured alternatives.

saw the answer, Joe says that the best thing to do was what you did at first (renaming dm fls functions to avoid conflicts). He does not say which one is the correct implementation for fls.i'm still not sure about the fls(), did you have in mind smth like the attachment ZY19...
