works fine now but i get insmod errors of modules not loading because or irq
etc... (will find out which ones from /var/log/messages in another bug report)

When I boot a system with acpi=on, the system hangs during the boot sequence on
"checking for new hardware". The computer is a Toshiba Satellite 5200-711.
If I skip Harddrake during the boot sequence, the system hangs after i log in.
