------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-08-09 11:31 ------- Hi all, I confirm that MandrakeLinux has big difficulties to manage this USB Sagem [EMAIL PROTECTED] 800 ADSL modem, especially when there is also an Ethernet card in the PC. Mandrake 9.1 was working fine with this modem if there was no Ethernet card, detecting and configuring it simply. 9.2b2 and 9.2RC1 are not as good, it simply does not work. Worse : upgrading the 9.1 to cooker breaks the free.fr internet connection via the sagem [EMAIL PROTECTED] 800 modem. I had to physically remove the Ethernet card to have it working again. So I suppose the Mandrake scripts need eth0 to be associated to the internet connection. I do think it is mandatory for the final release of this Linux distrib to be able to install and configure smoothly on a PC with this Sagem modem AND one or two Ethernet card (used for connecting to an internal network with internet connection sharing). To reach this goal, I would suggest to use eth9 for the USB connection, and to let eth0 (and eventually eth1, ...) for real physical Ethernet devices. I think it's compulsory for Linux acceptance by the noobie (which I am).
