------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-16-09 00:46 ------- Isn't the site about the sagem modem? I use a Freebox, not a fast800 modem. I've checked /var/log/messages and sadly there is nothing exactly when the modem gets frozen. However i have noticed that there is some upload activity just when the modem crashes, even though i did nothing with internet and there should be nothing ... At boot i only have this related to my network card : 8139too Fast Ethernet driver 0.9.26 PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 00:0f.0 eth0: RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xd0a8e000, 00:50:fc:57:85:a7, IRQ 5 eth0: Setting 100mbps full-duplex based on auto-negotiated partner ability 41e1. When the kernel is frozen for a few minutes, i also get this kind of messages in my log : martian source [My IP] from 127.0.0.1, on dev eth0 ll header: 00:50:fc:57:85:a7:00:07:cb:02:10:8e:08:00 I've to add that when the modem is frozen, everything becomes extremely sluggish. A "time getent hosts `hostname`" gives me 10 seconds. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: I've a freebox (ADSL modem used in France by Freetelecom) connected to my computer over ethernet (8139too). 5 to 10 minutes (generally) after the connection (by dhcp), the modem freezes completely. The only way to make internet work again is to unplug/replug its power supply (i do nothing on the computer in itself). This problem didn't happen with Mdk 9.1 (i currently have 9.2 RC2). The weird thing is that i tried with another distribution (Debian Sid), with a hand-made kernel (2.4.22 marcelo kernel) and it worked. I compiled the same kernel under Mdk 9.2 RC2 with the same .config and it doesn't work. Same problem. It makes the modem freeze. I don't know what to think/what to do. Though it is a big problem as i heavily use ssh when i am away (and i have no way to restart the modem in this case). Thank you very much for solving this problem before 9.2 comes out.
