ok you're right (and lucky) about sagem modem. I'll have to wait till February
2004 with my sagem...
For martian, see bug 5218 (with Free non dgroup) related to msec and
sysctl.conf, maybe your header corresponds to an interface that can be
identified so that you can warn the user infected...
Your sluggishness reminds me of *any* windoze os when network is going mad, pity
linux is infected...

description:
I've a freebox (ADSL modem used in France by Freetelecom) connected to my
computer over ethernet (8139too). 5 to 10 minutes (generally) after the
connection (by dhcp), the modem freezes completely. The only way to make
internet work again is to unplug/replug its power supply (i do nothing on the
computer in itself). This problem didn't happen with Mdk 9.1 (i currently have
9.2 RC2). The weird thing is that i tried with another distribution (Debian
Sid), with a hand-made kernel (2.4.22 marcelo kernel) and it worked. I compiled
the same kernel under Mdk 9.2 RC2 with the same .config and it doesn't work.
Same problem. It makes the modem freeze. I don't know what to think/what to do.
Though it is a big problem as i heavily use ssh when i am away (and i have no
way to restart the modem in this case). Thank you very much for solving this
problem before 9.2 comes out.
