Are you using the firewall?
If so, is it configured correctly?

How do you configure your network ip numbers,
through DHCP, or have you entered them yourself?

This also looks like an acpi bug, so please
try to boot with one of theese: 
(by pressing F1 end enter them on the command line)

Windows Xp home can use the network card 
But also Lindows 3.0 succeded in using the network interface.
