Actually, I was a Windows convert and the first text editor I used under Linux was indeed Emacs! Don't ask me why...I think that I had heard about it, so when I first typed "edit" in a console and got "command not found", I thought to myself "what text editor do they use in Unix - oh yeah, Emacs!"... Now, I mostly use Kedit, Kate or Vim (if I'm in a console mood), but I did use emacs for a while. I've recently cleaned up my installation (my /usr was at 90% capacity) and even though I removed quite a few packages - including xemacs - I still kept emacs. I'm not sure why, but I do think we should definitely keep it, if only for karmic reasons! :-) Furthermore, Unix converts will complain if we don't have it - and these days, they are more numerous than Windows converts (unfortunately). -- lie Charest [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://archie.homelinux.net:8080
