Thanks. I commented it out in /etc/profile, viz:


# Users generally won't see annoyng core files
# [ "$UID" = "0" ] && ulimit -S -c 1000000 > /dev/null 2>&1

and look forward to no further problem (fingers crossed :-) ).

I cannot decode your mention of bash�s ulimit command into some desirable action (no man info found).
