Found my NE2000 PCMCIA ethernet, asked for IO/IRQ which I provided, then failed
to install anything.

which is the reason the laptop has gone unused since 7.1 install.  All during
the install, the display and fonts looked real good; then, upon startup, the
fonts are huge and gross, the Kcontrol panel is accessible but is so large the
Apply and OK buttons are not visible (no, Alt+drag does not work and maximize
only adjusts the window to the screen while leaving the contents too large to
allow access to Apply).

That system is useless since I can't change anything and I've been too busy to
re-install LM6.x or find the rc files to change.  

Don't worry about these issues at this time; I'll try with 7.2b3 soon.
