Randy, it seems that some misperception is being distributed that you
need to build kernels and such to run win4lin. That's simply not the
case, though there is no sitting kernel that works with it and v7.2.
But for 7.1 you don't need to do any kernel patching or rebuilding.
When you install it, win4lin sets up a SECOND kernel and sets it on
your lilo menu. Mine's now set as the default and I could probably
eliminate the old one but this kernel works without any patching or
manipulation other than using rpm to extract it.

If these guys have a weakness it is in their marketing. While
everyone else seems more interested in marketing than anything else,
the Win4lin folks don't seem to have a clue how much damage they're
doing to their product image by not evaluating their evalution package
to install with things like Mandrake 7.2. The dumb thing is that they
have the 2.2.17 patch available for those who DO want to build the
stuff but they haven't actually used it themselves in making their
evaluation copy :-( I run 7.1 so this isn't an issue for me but they
really do need to get their act together in that regard.
