Support for glibc2.1 is provided by compat-glibc. I don't know for sure
whether MandrakeUpdate needs it or not, but I had no problems with
MandrakeUpdate when I did the glibc2.2 upgrade on 7.2. As the notes on
that site say, not everything off the Cooker becomes easier with glibc2.2
installed, but things like XFree86 4.02, become MUCH easier.
