Well, I've just updated. I do not understand the recommendation on this
site to do rpm --nodeps --force - it is always errorprone. I did without
any unresolved dependencies with
rpm -Uvh glibc* compat-glibc* ldconfig* sash*
(downloaded today).
The only problem was that ld.so.config and timezone were not preserved; it
created *.rpmnew but they were empty as well.
