You are probably right, after some time they might establish a new routine, 
and forget all the careful thought out advices.

One way to probe might be to treat some programs as handguns, lock them in 
into special directories. Then the user could be forced to notice any desired 
advice.

I don't have any knowledge about how a from Windows coming user might seek 
his solution. As an ex-teacher I can only say that this is a complex field of 
research and it sure is wise to be 'over the top' when designing a longterm 
solution.
