Oh I see.  Well soundwrapper isn't dangerous in IceWM
for instance, so it's just a matter of whether
"soundwrapper xmms -e %f" would be functional there. 
So you could use the soundwrapper normally, and then
just "xmms" for the kde_command.

If you were considering adopting the xmms -e (not a
bad idea), it would apply to all WMs.  You can run
Konqueror in other WMs, and I imagine other file
managers (whatever you're using in Gnome now) also do
the /usr/lib/menu/xmms "command" + the filename when
you click something associated with the xmms.
